August 1st 2011 meeting

We had a small but fun meeting on Monday night at the Schills. Four members were present. President Avery led the business meeting. A quick overview: A very short meeting was held & it was decided that we are going to plan for a $20 per child "dues" this fall (with a limit of $40 per family). Five of those dollars will be the State 4-H fees and the others will go towards the projects and things that the group needs. After the business meeting was adjouned and the kids when out to the garden an picked out their own snack, which included a moderate sized watermelon. We then discussed water and the water cycle of evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. Everyone got to help make it rain on the kitchen table! We then discussed different types of clouds and what they mean and how clouds work. A craft project/game was played and we make some clouds in a bottle. A few 4-H trinkets were handed out to those that could answer questions about the water cycle & clouds. Fresh Watermelon was devoured for the snack and fun was had by all! Our next meeting is scheduled for Septemeber 5th, Labor Day.
