Clearwater Fall Festival-September 16, 2017

For the second year, we decided to promote 4-H by having a float in the Clearwater Fall Festival parade.  We designed the float to go along with the festival theme, “Happy Trails to You”, celebrating 150 years of the Chisum Trail.  We had 13 members and 7 leaders participate.  We really enjoyed throwing candy to the kids, dressing up like cowboys, and working together to design and build the float.  We worked for 6 hours designing and creating the float, and an hour in the parade or a total of 95 hours.  It was a wonderful community building event, and we are looking forward to participating again in the future.

Sedgwick County Fair 2017

Our club had many entries in the county fair this year.  They included: foods, arts and crafts, clothing construction, quilting, photography, woodworking, chickens, beef, buymanship, horse, and dog.  Some of us also participated in the tractor pull.

March 26, 2017-Meeting Minutes

At our March meeting, we made new Country Kids t-shirts.  Suzanne and Shane taught us how to screen print our designs on the shirts. We also worked on making May Day baskets while we were waiting for our turn to print our shirts.

Kansas Food Bank - March 23, 2017

We volunteered at the Kansas Food Bank during spring break. While there, the younger kids packed apples into bags and unpacked spaghetti-o’s and fruit bars.  The older girls worked to pack the weekend food packages.  We had a lot of fun working at the Food Bank and helping others.  We learned that it is fun to work hard and get a job done, especially when you are helping others.  We had 13 members and 4 leaders working for 2 hours, for a total of 34 hours of service.
